The Protestant University of Rwanda (PUR), in collaboration with Stadtmission Nürnberg e.V. (Germany), is launching a German language program aimed at preparing individuals for professional training as care workers in Germany. This initiative also offers opportunities to collaborate with German partners in Rwanda and the Great Lakes Region, and pursue a career in professional care.

I. Program Options

1.     German Language Training for Professional Care Worker Preparation in Germany

This full-time program includes:

a)     4 hours of classroom instruction

b)     4 hours of self-study

c)     Monday to Friday

Selected candidates will receive a scholarship covering:

a)     Tuition fees

b)     Study materials

c)     Examination fees

For each level (A1, A2, B1, and B2), candidates will undergo an examination and receive a certificate for successful completion. Upon successful completion of one year of German language classes and obtaining a B2 certificate, candidates will proceed to a fully sponsored three-year professional training program in Germany. This training encompasses:

1.      Anatomy and physiology

2.      Pathology

3.      Nursing processes and diagnostics

4.      Medication theory and administration

5.      Wound care

6.      Patient communication and interaction

7.      Legal and ethical aspects of nursing

8.      Practical assignments

During the training, candidates will receive remuneration according to German standards. Upon completion, a three-year work commitment in the care sector is required. Afterward, candidates may choose to continue working in Germany or return to their home countries as trained professional care workers. 2.     German Language Training for General Proficiency

This program is available in two formats:

1.      Full-time: 4 hours of classroom instruction each morning and 4 hours of self-study each afternoon, Monday to Friday.

2.      Evening sessions: 3 hours of classroom instruction each evening (6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. 

Upon completion of each level (A1, A2, B1, and B2), candidates will undergo an examination and receive a certificate for successful completion. Candidates are responsible for covering the training expenses as per the university’s fee structure.

A1: RWF120,000

A2: RWF120,000

B1: RWF130,000

B2: RWF130,000

II. Eligibility Criteria for Care Worker Preparation Program

1.      Aged between 18 and 30 years

2.      Completed at least secondary education with eligibility for university admission

3.      Good health, certified by an authorized medical doctor

4.      Clear criminal record

1.      Applicants of all ages are eligible

2.      Completed at least secondary education

IV. Important Dates

1.      Application Period: June 17 – July 17, 2025

2.      Application Review: July 18 – July 20, 2025

3.      Notification of Admission: July 25, 2025

4.      Start of Classes: August 4, 2025
