The Protestant University of Rwanda (PUR) invites applications for the position of a full-time German language teacher, effective from August 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026. The contract may be renewed contingent upon continued program funding.

Applicant Profile

a)     Language Proficiency: Fluency in both spoken and written German.

b)     Educational Background: A formal qualification of C1 level or higher in German; a university degree in languages is advantageous. Exceptional proficiency in German may compensate for the degree requirement.

c)     Teaching Experience: Demonstrated experience in teaching practice.

d)     Professional Development: Willingness to enhance competencies in Teaching German as a Foreign Language.

e)     Supportive Attitude: Commitment to supporting students’ learning journeys.

f)      Skills: Strong organizational, coordination, and intercultural communication skills.

g)     Community Engagement: Readiness to actively participate in the social life of the PUR community.

h)     Availability: Preparedness to commence work immediately upon recruitment.

Main Responsibilities

a)     Instruction: Prepare and deliver German language lessons.

b)     Teaching Load: Conduct 35 hours of intensive German language classes per week.

c)     Assessment: Develop, administer, and evaluate exercises and tests for students.

d)     Feedback: Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.

e)     Advisory Role: Offer recommendations to PUR management on enhancing Language Center services, teaching and practice of German.

Work Facilitation

a)     Location: Residence in Huye, Rwanda, is required.

b)     Mentorship: Continuous guidance by an advisor specializing in Teaching German as a Foreign Language.

c)     Compensation: The monthly salary is open to negotiation.
