Empowering Change: Advanced Workshop on Alternatives to Violence Programs (AVP).
This past Sunday, a transformative
three-day (27-29/9/2024) workshop on Alternatives to Violence Programs (AVP)
concluded, attended by 29 students, church members, and pastors in collaboration
with the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies (FTRS). The workshop was
held at PIASS Huye Campus.
Participants delved into critical topics including Conflict and Violence concepts, Stages of Anger and Forgiveness, Consensus decision-making, Tools for Conflict Analysis, Transforming Power, Non Violent Communication, and the foundational Pillars of AVP.
Empowering participants to shape their learning, the workshop allowed them to identify and address pressing issues within their communities nonviolently. This initiative marks a significant step towards fostering peaceful conflict resolution and community engagement.
Looking ahead, a facilitator training program is set to be organized, enabling participants to become future trainers in AVP. Since its introduction at PIASS in 2013 by Hon. Prof. Dr. Penine Uwimbabazi, the AVP program has been actively contributing to both local and international communities.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated team of facilitators who made this workshop possible, and we remain committed to spreading the ultimate goal of peace and understanding through AVP.
