On July 22, 2024, the Protestant Institute of Arts and Social Sciences (PIASS) resonated with joy and achievement as the institution celebrated its 11th graduation ceremony. This momentous occasion celebrated at Huye Campus, marked the culmination of academic journeys for 465 students (Rwandan and International students) across diverse disciplines including Education, Theology and Religious Studies, and Development Studies. Graduates were awarded of Bachelor’s degree, Post graduate diploma in education and Master’s degree.

A notable highlight of this year's ceremony was the
commendable representation of female graduates, comprising 51% of the total
cohort. This statistic underscores PIASS's commitment to fostering gender
diversity and inclusivity within its academic community.
On behalf of graduates, Mr. Benyin Kofi Patrick from Ghana,
highlighted that from the rigorous academic pursuits to the meaningful
interactions with peers and mentors, every challenge they faced and every
triumph they celebrated has contributed to shaping them into the individuals
they are today. “We have learned not only to think critically but also to
empathize deeply, to question bravely, and to innovate boldly,” Kofi
emphasized.

The ceremony was not only a platform for conferring degrees
but also a time to recognize and celebrate excellence. Outstanding performers
from each faculty were awarded prestigious prizes by esteemed partners, further
motivating and acknowledging the hard work and dedication of these students.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Penine Uwimbabazi, The
Vice Chancellor of PIASS, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders including
PIASS staff and graduates’ families who contributed to the success of the
graduating class. "Today, we celebrate not just academic achievements but
also the resilience and determination of our students to make a meaningful
impact in their respective fields and communities," Prof. Dr. Penine
remarked.

In his remarks, Mr. Ange Sebutege, The Mayor of Huye
District who was the guest of honor in this graduation, celebrated our
graduates for their achievements! He encouraged them to be the change-makers
their respective communities need. He commended the contribution of PIASS, to
the district's development.
