“By virtue of the power conferred upon me by the    Protestant Institute of Arts and Social Sciences (PIASS), I declare this 10th Graduation Ceremony Congregation for the Conferment of Academic Degrees open.”

It was on 7th August, 2023 when the Chairperson of PIASS Council officially opened the 10th graduation ceremony in which 621 graduates were awarded of bachelors, post graduate and masters degrees was held at PIASS main Campus (Huye), and at the same time students from our Campus in Karongi were following ceremonies from this campus.

The graduation coincided with the celebration of PIASS triple anniversary where our institution was celebrating 53 years (1970 – 2023) of existence, it was a significant and joyous occasion to celebrate with families, friends and most importantly with men and women who successfully completed their academic journey at different levels.

This time, 19 (including 7 masters students) students graduated from the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies (FTRS), 559 (including 18 PGDE students) from Faculty of Education (FED) and 43 from the Faculty of Development Studies (FDS).

According to the statistics, among 621 students who graduates, 328 (53%) were female while 293 (47%) were male students.

As usual, best performers got prizes from our partners. At bachelor level, the overall performer was Mr. NDAYIZEYE Henri Fabrice who was pursuing Peacebuilding and Development, while the best performer at Masters level was Rev. Eraste Rukera.

Prof. Dr. Penine UWIMBABAZI, the VC of PIASS congratulated the graduates for their milestone that marked the new chapter for them. “We are very confident that you are carrying with you enough knowledge, skills and competences gained from PIASS. As you step into the market world, PIASS encourages you to continue embracing learning as a lifelong pursuit, and know that education is not confined to a classroom, but it exists in every aspect of life.” She added.

In his speech, the guest of honor Eng. Pascal GATABAZI the Chief Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Education, appreciated the contribution of PIASS in developing the country by providing competent and skillful students. “We are waiting for your contribution, and we are confident that you will make positive impacts in our communities and beyond.” He said.
