Professional Profile

I was a member of the Department of Politics and International Relations from 2014 – 2018 and remain an associate member:

  • Taught International Economic Relations for three years;
  • I currently teach at Master’s level International Business and Law and Law of Taxation, and at undergraduate Insurance and Risk Management, Company Law;
  • I also currently teach Structure of International Society;
  • I am a public affairs commentator for at least three radio stations and a television station on areas of political economy (many of my analysis are available on YouTube and social media);
  • Whilst undertaking PhD, I instructed students in the following areas International Relations Theories; Global Governance; Political Economy and International Security;
  • Two of the successful Doctoral students were in the area of local government administration and human rights, whilst the two I currently supervise are in Gender studies and Conflict Resolution.

D. Work Experience

Current and Past Managerial Role starting from most recent:

1. Secretary to the Council of the University Chapel – April 2017 – date

  • Administered the operations of the Chaplaincy;
  • Arranged meetings on advice of the Chairman (the Chaplain) (the Council consists of all Principal Officers of the University);
  • Presents the budget and leads and directs the Fund-raising operations of the Chaplaincy;
  • Directs the training requirements of the Chaplaincy.
  • 2. Chairman Committee of Hall Advisers – April 2018 – June 2023

  • Chaired the committee of Advisers/Wardens for 26 hostels in University;
  • Reported to the University Registrar on the welfare and wellbeing of the student residents;
  • Liaised with the Chief Security Office and the safety of all student residents;
  • Supervised the students’ elections into the Hostel Executives;
  • Received reports from the Hostel Managers and other Hall Advisers.

    3. Head of Department of Public and International Law - 2019 – 2021

  • Administered the department and reported to the Faculty Dean;
  • Ensured students’ academic welfare was catered for and adequately addressed.

    4. Dean Faculty of Law – 2018 -2019

  • Administered the Faculty with the assistance of the Head of Departments;
  • Managed and assessed staff for promotion;
  • Represented the Faculty on the Council of Legal Education and Committee of Deans in Nigeria;

  • Raised $300,000 for scholarships from Sahara Energy Foundation;

  • Directly Responsible for: 13 staff (inclusive of: 3 Area Team Leaders, 4 Support Centre Staff (Including Finance Manager and Head of Human Resources), and 5 Staff Workers and 33 centres across the Universities in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland
  • Directing and shaping the revamp of the charity’s communications strategy and re-publication of all promotional materials as well as making the charity more social media compliant;
  • Publishing two books, managing the promoting, and in the process of editing, indexing a third book;

    My recent fund raising and philanthropic activities raised millions of funds from United States America, United Kingdom to offer relief to over 425 less privileged workers within the University to mark my birthday.

    Cross-Cultural Experience

  • I was the Secretary and Board member of the African and Caribbean Evangelical Alliance (ACEA), a body of all the various Black Majority Churches in the UK; 7 years, meeting and relating with s a diverse range of nationalities;
  • I was a Board member of the Evangelical Alliance in the UK, a body covering almost all Evangelical and Pentecostal Churches in the UK; 6 years; meeting and relating with a diverse range of nationalities;
  • In 2013 for 5 months I undertook my sabbatical with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) Africa – English Speaking, in this role I was engaged as a trainer and facilitator in Ghana, South Africa, The Gambia, Mozambique, Botswana, I was able to immerse myself in different cultures;
  • My doctoral and Master studies include field work in South Africa;
  • Working for Friends International gave me direct experience of working cross-culturally amongst various international students coming to study in the UK, understanding their respective cultures and learning how to navigate various issues with them.
  • For three years in the UK, I led and facilitated three Cross-Cultural Conferences amongst Black Majority Churches;
  • I have consulted for several Churches in the UK and Nigeria over the past 10 years in cross- cultural issues;
  • My latest book, Ojedokun, Olu (2023), Navigating the JAPA Phenomenon: A resource and navigational tool for African Immigrants (Kindle Amazon Publishers, United Kingdom) makes a comparison between cold climate cultures and warm climate cultures and is an essential tool for those trying to navigate cross cultural issues.
